The Reason Our Church Relocated In A Nutshell!!

I have been receiving alot of requests explaining what happened to our church so I have reposted the two year ordeal (really Hank has been a problem for 10 years...basically ever since I have known him 1990.)

The youth pastor who struggled as the interim sought counsel in his old pastor in regards to Battens P&W. His pastor was Hank Davis. Hank is the leader of Word of Life Ministries and the senior pastor of Church of the Harvest in Cleveland, TN. Word of Life came and approached the church about becoming their covering. The church accepted and the problems began. First, Hank Davis managed to get the property transferred to Word of Life for the amount of $10 via the unsuspecting youth pastor. Then, he borrowed $16,000 for repairs...most of which never were finished. He came to the elders and told them this would be a blessing to the church and then stuck them with the loan for repairs.

I failed to mention it was Word of Life that I was a part of while in college. Hank and his staff asked me to pastor the church in Alabama. I was not wild about working with Hank, but I fell in love with the people in this church. So I came to E'prise.

The loan was the first bone of contention. Many contentions have followed since. On every occasion we tried to be supportive but never felt as if we had received the truth. He had some serious sexual allegations and we went to him. We told him the church was in his ministries name and we felt it would be best if he signed it back to us. He said no worries I will not plea-out to anything. We found that he made a plead to a lesser charge by way of the internet.

The thing is we were growing and doing some good ministry. We wanted to move into town and build a nice new church. The upkeep was too much on the old church. We arranged a meeting with the Word of Life board, traveled to Tennessee to present our plans, and there was no board. Just Hank Davis. He said God had spoke to him about us wanting to build and he was all for it ( I knew he was lying). He said That he would sign the property back to the church he just needed to talk with his lawyer.

Two of the people he claimed on his board notified me that there must be a mistake as they are not on a board for Word of Life. One had said they had to ask him during the sexual lawsuits to quit bringing their name into it. Anyways, he has some loyalists that did support him and allowed him to do this to our church. They are:
  • Marcus Lamb, Owner Daystar Television
  • Scott Thomas, Pastor Church Without Walls Lakeland, TBN speaker (go figure)
  • Kent Davis, Pastor City Church in Tampa (came and locked us out of the church last May)

I spoke with Hank a week later...he reemed me out for bringing him before the sheep and gave me verbal consent to sell the property. He never contacted us again. He would not return our calls. We sought legal advise and the banks advice...they both said quick making mortgage payment and force him into foreclosure. We did that and Hank had his lawyer evict us. He never did sign the property back to us. He paid the $35,000 balance and just sold it to the first offer at $165,000. We had no where to go. We met in the park for two weeks. We rented a hotel conference room and now we rent a restraunt weekly. That is two years in a nutshell.

I never said much about this, but since you Brought up the name of Hank David, I may as well add my two cents....LOL . The first and only time I met Hank Davis, was the day he filled in for you at church one Sunday. I was sooooo UNIMPRESSED with this man, it almost turned me away from the Potters House. The biggest part of his message was Bragging about his material possessions that God had Provided for him. He failed to mention he bought this stuff with the money he has screwed people out of. His bragging was so gross, I felt like I was at an Amway convention. I knew nothing at all about Hank Davis That day, but knew that day, Hank was NOT a man of God, he was a man of GREED. So I guess my first Impression, was the right impression of Old Hank the Money Tank. I hope some of his followers read your blog, and see what Hank is in it for.

Many of his people have actually contacted Laurie and I to apologize for his behavior. I am glad you gave us another chance. We have lost many people because of his messages at The Potter's House. I did all I could not to have him, but he was the covering and I knew to shrug him off would cause problems. Well, the problems came anyhow. He has no business being in the ministry. He made comments as to the size of our congregation when he came. Most people made no bones about it...when Hank comes I will be on vacation. His last offering was $71 because he is so arrogant. I better send that to him. I don't think we ever sent that. I know he will need it! That was my fault...I should have never let him have access to this pulpit once all the legal issues began. For that I apologize to everyone that was hurt or offended by his materialistic preaching. He just thought he was so much better than these country folks here in LA.

you have our prayers, brother ..

Religion is a horrible strongman in this land and there are so many who meekly follow it around and defend it with their lives of legalism and/or license

Keep the Faith .. Stay pure, don't let bitterness or hatred defile you .. forgive, move on and serve all you can in Jesus' Name .. THAT's what the hurting want and need

Does anyone know what happened to the old youth minister from the 1990's. His name was Steven Parker. I attended church there for a few years as a teen and later found out that something "bad" had "gone down" with Steve and his wife Kim but no one would share any details. It was all a very "hush hush" thing. I have always wondered what happened and hope that he and Kim were doing well.

Where is Hank now? There is nothing about him being active in his church.

Matthew 5:8-16
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Everyone is flawed and everyone makes mistakes but is posting a blog about it and calling it "Ministry" Blog how to handle it. Explaining a situation is one thing (it is not ministry). Writing an persuasive essay about how bad another minister is, is another thing however. Matthew 5:16 says to let your light so shine before men that they would see your father in heaven. This specific blog about the church relocation glorifies noone but yourself by putting another minister down. There is no need to do that. Be the salt of the earth, a city on a hill, and a light to the world. If you were wronged, then you are blessed when people persecute you for righteousness sake and yours is the kingdom of heaven. However, if you put some other minister down (lets say behind a pulpit or from a blog) then he or she is blessed because you are reviling and persecuting them. I guess we all just need to follow Jesus' advice of not pointing out a speck in our brotherss eye when we have a log in our own eye (Matthew 7:3-5) and to judge not lest we be judged (Matthew 7:1). For we know that "Vengeance is Mine, Sayeth the Lord." (Romans 12:19)

God bless and keep the faith-

Hi. I actually found this because of a person's post about Mr. Davis on Craigslist while looking for an apartment or home for my family. Someone was warning others that the "so-called Pastor was lying and trying to cheat people" and to "google his name to find out info before calling about one of his properties for rent". So...I did. And I found this page. And I have something to say...please?

I do not know this man. We do live in Clev, TN and we did hear about the story of the sexual assault on the young lady, along with other stories. We also heard that he plead Guilty. Sad. So sad. Also, I have only been to this church once, years ago when they hosted a "Queen for a Day" and I convinced my mom and grandmother to come to it with me. While I have no idea if Mr Davis had anything to do with the event, it is a memory that will stay in my mind forever because the people and ladies at the Church of the Harvest truly treated my mom and grandmother like Queens. My grandmother was sick and we didn't know it. She smiled more that day than I think I've ever seen...so for that, I thank the church.

However, the true reason I write this is because...I too, am now sick. Badly. Yet, I have prayed for my family to find God for so many years and finally, at age 56, my mother just got saved. Yet here I am, feeling so completely lost and alone and I pray with her, try to renew her faith as things go wrong...but behind closed doors, I feel nothing but pain and emptiness. But I still believe that the Lord has a plan and that's why He gave me this disease. (Trigeminal Neuralgia.. Called the "Suicide Disease",which has been brought on by brain tumors they can't remove.) So, I look for faith and guidance along the way. But does it truly exist? Because I read these stories and while I was horrified to know this pastor did such things, I was equally horrified to see other pastors say the things they did, out loud, in a BLOG for everyone to read. I am not judging you. Please please don't think I am. Yes, he doesn't sound very christian to me. But may I ask this...what about the lost souls that are angry, hurt, scared inside and that come across this blog? Wouldn't you prefer to know they can read about a troubling experience, perhaps, but to hear the word of God in this story? I needed to see that today. So badly. I don't think I knew HOW much, until it wasn't there to be found. So I sit here and I cry. Alone. Angry, sad, hurting... and disappointed because I needed to see that there was real faith and goodness out there and even if it wasn't there in one pastor, I could believe it was there in so many others...but I do not see this. I see angry words and gossip. We are all human. Everyone does it. But when you took on the responsibility to lead others toward God, didn't you also take on the choice to "let go & let God"??? I'm so sorry you all have been treated so poorly by this man. It saddens me to know he is even in my town. But the devil hides in sheeps clothing. While I don't know the bible well at all, doesn't God sacrifice the SHEEP?

Please, may I recommend a change in tone on this blog? Again, I mean no offense, please please believe that. What I mean is that I needed to see faith and love right now, even though I didn't know it at the time. Wouldn't you love to know you led someone toward Christ and faith, instead of away from it because of the bitterness?? Just a thought. My heart is heavy with this and it's not even my fight. **To the lady whose family was sick, I don't know how things turned out but I'm so so sorry for you. I wish I had known you at the time because sick or not, I would have helped you in any way I could. No-one should have to go thru all of that pain and stress alone. I'm so sorry. I hope and pray you and your family are better and happier. God bless you.** And pastors and other commentors, I pray for all of us. Thank you for allowing me to speak.

Jude 6:18 "They said to you, In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.vs 19 It is those who cause divisions, wordly people, devoid of the Spirit"
Is this ministry founded on the manipulation of man or truth and sound doctrine? May we all examine ourselves by the words of God and nothing else.

After reading all these blogs my heart is saddened. Why do so many choose to cast stones and tear down when they should be building up? God has not placed us here on earth at this time for any other reason than to worship and praise Him and to lead sinners to the cross. The words you speak and the time you waste speaking them should be used to farther the kingdom of God, not cause those words and accusations to cause sinners to pull farther away and not want to come to know Jesus. Take the time to heal a heart, speak a kind word, fall on your face before the Lord and ask what can I do to bless others to lead the lost to you, God. And while you are there ask God to forgive you for touching His child. The ground is level at the foot of the cross. Please don't forget that! And ask yourself, "When I speak destruction to one of God's children is God pleased?" And stop judging long enough to listen for the answer.....

Everyone that reads this blog should go online and get Pastor Hank's testimony. What's under the blood should stay under the blood. How would you feel if your past mistakes were posted on the internet. It amazes me that this blog is such a one-sided story. I hate that we feel the need to air out everyone else's mistakes, but yet we can't look ourselves in the face and ask the Lord to work on us. THERE IS ALWAYS TWO SIDES TO A STORY!! Instead of wasting your time posting horrible things about God's Vessel, you should ask the Lord to help you understand that no one is perfect.

The Bible tells us to not touch his anointed... no matter what happened years ago or what you think about this man - He is being used mightily by God and you should let the past go.

Anonymous said...

How is he "mightily" being used by the Lord? I think he has been more used in the area of deception and harm. Our leaders must have integrity. Many are so weak in the knowledge of Gods truth that they have been lead astray. I am all about forgiveness but leaders have a fearful obligation.

This man Hank Davis hides behind the title of 'Pastor.' God doesn't bless somone who lives in sin. I assure his heart isn't right with God.
To the comment on February 16 - you clearly don't have an understanding of touch not Gods anointed. You need to study and research scripture. I assume your part of his brainwashed church.

Hello, this is Mike. Let me apologize as I have not read these blog posts in nearly two years. I was shocked to see all the comments, and deeply concerned by yours. First, I have done all I can to forgive Hank. I was very angry with him during this period. But, your comment broke my heart. Have you sought any professional or legal help?

My dear fellow brethren the spectrum here is much broader Then Hank Davis... Go to this link an be ALLUMINATED... http://youtu.be/OJkSAUAmOM0

Reverend Rafael said...

It's not how you start. It's how you run and how you finish.

Hank Davis' testimony doesn't appear to mean much now after the shenanigans he's essentially admitted to at his church and for what he's done in trying to dominate a pastor trying to build a household of faith who trusted him. It's sad to see so many people sympathizing with the predatorial perps filled with hypocrisy than with the servants of God who tried to do right.

Jesus said it would be that way and all of you heaping insult upon Mike prove His prophetic insight.

I couldn't pull up the you tube link. Can u check to make sure the link is correct?

FREEMASONS!!! Cleveland Tennessee is full of them... hoodwiking there congregations... Do your research but you wont like what you find.... The spectrum is broader then Hank Davis... Find out if your pastor is a freemason, shriner or knihts templar. Study to show yourself approved.... MASONIC EMPIRE IS CLEVELAND

Awake my spirit. For now, the rest is over. Great work is needed from you. Training is over and the battle begins. Your sword is sharp and your skills are ready to be proven. Your Warrior cry echoes through the valleys for the enemy knows the time has come. His grasp on what's yours is at risk and he is prepared to fight. Battle scars are my armor for they have made me strong. My brothers are called and we become as one. Our enemy is strong and well skilled but his arrogance is his weakness. I've been stripped of my possessions, trampled on, lied to, used and abused. We enter a new age, a new calling ,where all cheeks have been turned but now, vengeance is mine. Arise Oh Great Warriors. For the God of this world and his angels shall fall to our feet. For we are sent by the one true God. We will not lose. Where other generations have failed We will Not. For a New anointing has been given. We inhale the breathe of life and our exhale is of Fire .

I just stumbled across this when I googled Hank Davis. I just saw on the news that he has been indicted for sexual battery on a girl under 18. Maybe he will get what he deserves...

To those who are defending this man and stating that he is anointed by God and therefore some how untouchable by the law or that we should consider this Satan's Attack on the Godly work this man is doing. You are blind and should know that Godly men DON'T SEXUALLY ASSAULT ANYONE!!! The man has gotten away with this before and the best thing to do is leave this church and therefore take the place from him where he is allowed to commit these acts. If there is no one to minister to he can't continue to harm people. Stop supporting what is evil..Church of the Harvest!

I have first hand experience of working for "Hank" and being in their home. The girls ARE telling the truth! The adults are telling the truth, and God help those of you who are still blinded by Hank Davis' con artist schemes. One day your eyes will be opened to the real truth, and you will feel guilty for funding his sin and crime. However, once you leave there are hundreds of us who have successfully escaped "the cult" and we will love you unconditionally. Instead of being so defensive of Hank just stop and think of all the amazing people you've watched leave. Just stop giving Hank your money and watch what happens ... You'll be told you're cursed, they can no longer pray for you, etc. Try it out ... And see! Those of you who have gotten out you know there is true peace, joy and happiness. We need to band together, support this girl who has been brave enough to expose his long standing crimes, and have the courage to speak out too!!!! Don't let the victimizer keep you quiet any longer!!!!

I cannot imagine why anyone would stay at church of the harvest knowing the truth. God hates sin!

Hank Davis is a sleaze bag if there ever was one. He's a wolf in sheeps clothing, and everyone who is taking up for this man has no idea who he is. I'm not the best christian on earth, far from it. I'm an extremely passive person but this man deserves to burn in hell for what I know first hand he's done. I wouldn't have any qualms about sending him there myself either.

Anonymous said...

The behavior of Hank Davis described in this blog is consistent with his behavior 40 years ago in California. His profiles describe him as a successful contractor when he met his future wife Rhonda, but that is greatly misleading. His wife, Rhonda Giles, attended our church and was heartless in demeaning and dehumanizing other young people in our youth group, but she sure could pour on the charm when she wanted a favor. I am sorry to see that they have not changed, but they deserve each other; they're a good match.

Please explain and comment more. I was in Cleveland a while back and I am horrified by the giant phallic occult obelisk on Lee University campus. It’s shocking!!!!!!!!! This symbol comes from the mystery Babylon mentioned in revelations in the Bible. I cannot believe this Christian college has a giant pagan penis in the face of our God. And yes I believe many of the leaders are Freemasons. They likely are not high ranking. The 33 degree openly worship Lucifer. I think the ridiculous “Greek letter” clubs at the college is reminiscent of the free Masonic order. And let not forget how Paul Conn went to hand out with Larry Summers at Harvard for years. The same guy who visited Epstein’s island and was in that pic with Epstein and a bill gates. It’s a giant club, and you Ain’t In it
